ABOUT CAREER SPECIALIST PROGRAM
The Department of Career Preparation's Career Specialists Program brings a realistic balance to the Student/Career Services guidance team by providing services and resources to assist students, kindergarten through adult, in the career development process.

The Career Specialists:

  • Serve as liaisons between education and business and industry
  • Provides career awareness, exploration and preparation for employment and postsecondary education
  • Help students relate academic skills, interests, and daily activities to the real world of work
  • Partner with all student services personnel, (counselors, college advisors/CAP, social workers, safe school facilitators, trust specialists, administrators, and teachers) to handle academic, social, and career issues involving all students K-Adult
  • Disseminates career and labor market information
  • Identifies and provides intensive advisement to at risk students and/or actual dropouts of career and educational options

The conglomeration of duties, activities, and support of the career specialists are unique to each setting. Their flexibility allows them to meet the needs of the students, stakeholders, and communities in which they serve.

The career specialists serve as lead teachers, cadre leaders, and/or coordinators
at selected schools for the following programs:
